John Shadforth is a 72 year old semi-retired entrepreneur and businessman. He has been married for 48 years has four boys their wives and eight grandchildren.

He brings with him not only the wisdom of a fifty year successful business career but the wisdom gained from being a family man for forty eight years.

John believes that the essential core of business is ,a strong resolve to serve the customer, the growth and nurturing of a data base of loyal customers, innovation, a desire to give back to the community and an intense focus on marketing as the key driver of any business.

His early business life was spent in developing and running a farming enterprise in cooperation with his father and brother. Other business ventures included an earth moving business, owning and managing a motel, property development and capital raising. John and his team successfully floated four companies on the Australian Stock Exchange.

The Foundation also intends to make sure that all people no matter of their financial status have access to the life skills education and tools they can use to become the best they can become and make a positive difference in the world.

The Foundation operates both locally and internationally.Over the past six years the Foundation has been an integral part of providing accommodation for one hundred and sixty students from remote villages in East Timor to allow them to continue a High School education that would otherwise be impossible for them as the only means of getting to higher education is to walk six hours each way. The first group of these students has now graduated from high school and the Foundation has been able to further provide them with accommodation in the Timor capital Dilli, so that they can pursue a University education.

John has been a director of both private and public companies during his business life and while he has decided to retire from most of these positions, he still holds the position of director of The Foundation Board of The University of The Sunshine Coast and has done so for the last fourteen years.

His input to the University has been recognized by being awarded the position of Honourary Senior Fellow of The University of The Sunshine Coast.
