3 Secrets to a Millionaire Mindset

I have recently become very fortunate to find myself working with some extraordinarily successful people - millionaire entrepreneurs, movers-n-shakers and visionaries…

What’s really crazy is that in my head, before I met them, I was thinking to myself, what do they know that I don’t? How come they’re jetting around in private Lears while I drive a well-used and well-loved ‘05 Honda? Are they really that much better at something? Or just lucky? I thought they would be very different.

You know - taller, more beautiful, über-talented, workaholic, always on top of their game, always seeing and grabbing opportunities, having all the answers and knowing just how to leverage their celebrity status...

Whoops. Not so much. As it turns out, they are regular people, just like you and I. Well, mostly. They have fears. They have insecurities. They have weird quirks. They can be moody.

And yet, there’s a difference and it's a big one.

It took a while but I’ve cracked the code, I'm applying it and believe you me, things are changing for me at a pace that is almost scary to keep up with - a crazy wild ride that is more fun and exhilarating than anything I’ve ever experienced.

Wanna know the secret?

Sure, you do.

Here you go. The millionaire mindset in 3 easy steps:

1. Focus on what you want.

How can you do that, when the outer reality is clearly "not" that of a millionaire? You just have to train yourself to refuse to accept anything less than the mental image/feeling of what you want (I’ll tell you how, in a minute).

If you let “what is” override “what can be” you’re doomed to repeating the same patterns over and over ‘til the end of time. You have to give your mind the right commands - “fetch me THIS” (you do that through your attention and emotions). If you’re constantly thinking about and bummed about being broke, stressed, overweight and lonely, you’re telling your mind, “fetch me this.” And as you command, your mind shall perform. Yuck. Focus on what you want. Not on what you don't want.

Weirdly enough, you can learn to 'accept' a million dollars just as easily as you can 'accept' a hundred. Put that image/feeling on repeat. Like "The Donald" says, "if you're going to think anyway, you might as well think big."

2. Be happy now.

How can you do that, when you’re broke, stressed, overweight and lonely? What’s to be happy about? The sucky job? The stress of creditors' harrassing calls? The gross feeling of squeezing into too-tight jeans? The achingly awful quiet of a phone that doesn't ring? Ah, but you can train yourself to be happy, right here, right now.

Really. You can.

The secret, the real for-sure failproof solution to creating happiness right this instant, is gratitude. You might have to dig for it, but it's there, that important something that is enriching your life as we speak.

What little nugget of awesomeness can you dig out of a bad situation? Take the time to look. What have you learned from adversity? Have you become more resilient? More compassionate? More proactive? Less reactive? Did you have to step out of our comfort zone and do something different? Did you face your fears? Did you survive? Did you learn to live more, on less? Did you strengthen a great relationship? Did you jettison a bad one? Did you learn to appreciate what you have, instead of always wanting more? Did you learn a new skill? C'mon, keep digging! Start the day and end the day with a heartfelt thank you. Thanks for a new day, a day of opportunity, a day of possibility.

Why would you want to be happier before you've achieved your goals? Because happiness is a prerequisite for success. It's not the other way around. You're not necessarily going to be happy "when." Nope. You have to be happy first. Have you ever felt motivated and jazzed up to do anything but sit on the couch, eat popcorn and watch TV when you're depressed? If you're sitting on the couch eating popcorn and watching TV, are you doing anything even remotely like you wanna be doing if life was perfect? 

If you're happy, don't you feel like you have wings... and you feel like you can climb Everest and wresle alligators and walk the red carpet and accept a Nobel Peace Prize? Don't your goals, even the big ones, seem more within reach when you're happy? Don't you just wanna go GRAB them? Happiness makes you feel strong and capable. That's what I'm talking about!

3. Talk yourself into success.

I know you’re sick and tired of talking yourself out of success. I know it because I got sick and tired of talking myself out of success. I don’t, anymore. Every day, I’m practicing thinking like a super-successful millionaire. Putting numbers in my head that used to feel “impossible” for me to achieve (they're starting to feel natural and normal - who knew?) Telling myself over and over, “you’ll figure it out!” (I always do!) Visualizing myself doing what I want. Want... not survival-oriented and small-thinking need... want.

Stop that nonsense of "I can't." You'll figure it out. No more "it won't work." Says who, unless they come from the future bearing proof that it won't? Forget the "I'm not good enough." Sure, you are. You'll figure it out. You're good at figuring it out. When you start thinking in terms of "I can" and your mind is focused on what you want, it starts to cleverly go about finding the resources you need to achieve your goal.

"Fetch me this."

Those are the 3 secrets.

I know... it seems almost too simple, doesn't it? But who says the best solution can't be the simplest one?

The millionaire mindset is not conditioned by limitations. They have trained themselves to think big. They talk themselves into success. And they express gratitude. Their thought habits - emphasis on habits - is the secret to the mindset that makes it natural and easy to do the stuff that most of us won't so they can have what most of us don't.

If you apply these 3 principles things will fall into place.
